Trek Mae Taeng - Jungle & Tribe (C-204)

Your adventure begins aboard a local truck that will take you north. Immerse yourself in the colors and smells of the Mae Malai market, where you will choose fresh produce for the journey. After a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters of the Mok Fah waterfall, you will join a Karen village for an authentic lunch. In the afternoon, a 3.5-hour trek takes you deep into the jungle. Follow winding trails under a canopy of towering trees, listen to the sounds of exotic birds, and breathe in the fresh mountain air as you make your way to the remote Karen village of Bann Pa Kao Lam. The day will end with a moment of pure connection with the elephants: get hands-on to prepare their meal, feel their warm breath as you feed them, and share a joyful and refreshing bath with them in the river. In the evening, a friendly dinner will await you before a simple and authentic night in the village, lulled by the sounds of the jungle.

After waking up to the sounds of nature, a short walk will take you to the river. Prepare for a thrilling 2.5-hour journey down the Taeng River on a traditional bamboo raft. Your local guide will expertly navigate the gentle rapids, allowing you to relax, soak in the stunning jungle scenery, and even take a dip in the cool river waters. A stop will allow you to discover the way of life of the Lahu tribe in the village of Bann Pong Ngan. The river adventure will end at the Shan village of Bann Sob Kai for a final traditional lunch. It is here, in the heart of local life, that your journey ends, before heading back to Chiang Mai, with your body tired but your spirit and heart recharged with authentic experiences.
